James Edward Rosecrans passed away on December 28, 2022. James was born in Asheville, NC, on January 13, 1953, to Nancy and Arthur Rosecrans and died unexpectedly on December 28, 2022, age 69, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte FL.
Jim was a 1971 graduate of West Genesee High School in Camillus NY. In 1971, Jim won the title of New York State Wrestling Champion in the Heavy Weight Division. He also represented the U.S. in the world cup for Lacrosse of 1980. Jim was a graduate of Penn State University in 1975. He played football for Penn State, where the team won the Cotton Bowl twice and the Orange Bowl. Jim went on to play professional football with the Pittsburg Steelers and New York Jets until an injury shortened his career.
James was an executive with Empire Visions for 29 years until his retirement in 2018. Jim spent winters in Port Charlotte, FL, and summers in Syracuse, NY. He had a warm and caring personality and many wonderful friends. He will be missed dearly.
James was predeceased by his father Arthur and his mother Nancy. He has two brothers, Edward (Sandra) Rosecrans and William (Cyndi) Rosecrans, Nephew Garett Rosecrans, and Great Nephew Edward Rosecrans. Jim was also close with his many cousins, he will be held in their thoughts and prayers.
A Memorial Service and celebration of life will be held in Syracuse, NY in the summer. Details will follow.
