James Redding Ramsey, Jr.
James R. Ramsey, Jr., 89, of Ooltewah died on Monday, June 24, 2019.
A native of Brooks County, GA., he was born April 13, 1930, to the late James R. "Buck" Sr. and Ruth Frances (Treadaway) Ramsey.
After residing in Albany, GA, for more than fifty years, he lived in Ooltewah for the past five years.
He was a 1947 graduate of Dixie High School (Dixie, GA) and worked briefly on the family farm before being inducted into the Army where he served in the Signal Corps. After his military service, he was employed for 34 years AT&T.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Carolyn (Smith) Ramsey.
He is survived by his daughter, Ronda R. (Jimmy) Foster, Ooltewah; granddaughters, Caitlin Suzanne Foster and Lindsay Carolyn Foster both of Orlando, FL.; siblings, Ira Clayton (Marianne) Ramsey, Marietta, GA, Mildred Ruth McRae, Valdosta, GA, William Donald (Elvaree) Ramsey, and Charlie Owen (Sandra) Ramsey, both of Quitman, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, July 1, at in the funeral home chapel with Clayton H. Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
