It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James A. Raines, a devoted husband, loving father, and honorable Vietnam War veteran. James, age 78 died on January 25, 2024 at home.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky Raines, who stood by his side through thick and thin. A dedicated father, James leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through his children. Allen and his wife Sara, and grandsons Ryan, and Tyler , son Aaron and his wife Tamara, and their son Graham, his daughter Rebecca as well as his brother Edwin and his wife Gail.
As we reflect on the life of James Raines, let us remember the sacrifices he made for our freedom. He loved Scouting and served for many years in the program. He earned a PhD from BYU in Environmental Science and taught college for over 20 years. Among his most cherished memories were the vacations the family took each summer. Criss-crossing the US collecting plant specimens and enjoying the great outdoors.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at The Church 0f Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 15940 Old Conroe Rd at 10:00 AM where friends and family will come together to celebrate James's life and share cherished memories. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. at Conroe Funeral Directors. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and uplift us all.
