James Wilson Owen entered the gates of Heaven on February 10, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Conkle Owen; sons, Randy, David, Allan (Mandy), Daniel (Jennifer); his beloved granddaughters, Madalyn, Emily, Sophie, Taylor; his sisters-in-law, Carlene Owen, Martha Owen and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Marion Earl and Sarah West Owen; sister, Earline Barry; brothers, John C. Thomas W. and M. Wesley Owen. He was a graduate of Hapeville High School and attended Georgia State. He worked for USF&G before moving his family to Marietta, Georgia to work for James A. Colquitt, Inc., eventually becoming Owen & Associates Insurance. He served in the Georgia Air National Guard 116th Fighter Wing. He actively served in his community as a former member of Marietta Kiwanis, The Wellstar Hospice Board and the board of the Marietta Symphony on the Square. For over 50 years, he faithfully served Marietta First Baptist Church as a Life Deacon, Chancel Choir member, the Deacon Quartet and Mens Sunday School Class. Due to the Covid-19 virus, a private family service will be held. If you wish to honor Wilson, donations may be made to Marietta First Baptist Church Building Fund or Wellstar Community Hospice. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Historic Marietta Chapel is handling the arrangements.
