The unimaginable happened the morning of September 28, 2022. James "Jim" Miller Nichols, 61, of Bryan passed away. He was born September 2, 1961 in Pensacola, FL to Daniel "Nick" and Catherine Holmes Nichols. He married Tammie Newman on June 21, 1997 in Beeville. Jim spent his entire life dedicated to helping others. He began his career with the Cuero Fire Department in August of 1981. He then went on to work for and retire from the City of Victoria. After retirement, he continued his service as a Paramedic/EMT with agencies around Texas. Jim had a heart of gold. He enjoyed collecting fire memorabilia, reading countless books to his granddaughter and coming up with silly handshakes with his grandson. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren and family was unmatched, unwavering and unconditional. He was the pillar of the family and we never dreamed in a million years this would be a reality, but he left this earth knowing we all loved him so very much.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Tammie Newman Nichols; daughters, Jessica DeClements (Husband, Edward III) of Bryan and Emma Nichols of Bryan; son, Jacob Nichols of Bryan; sister, Kathleen Schewe (husband, Johnny) of Crosby; brothers, Jon Nichols (wife, Sandra) of Cuero and Joe Nichols (wife, Pam) of Manhattan, MT and grandchildren, Edward "Deuce" DeClements and Carolynn Rae DeClements of Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary Pallbearers include Jacob Nichols, Edward DeClements III, Joe Nichols, Jon Nichols Jr., Dustin Nichols, Dave Newman, Jon Nichols and Johnny Schewe.
The family has decided to have a private ceremony with only close family present.
