James Francis Mootz, Jr. (Chip) passed away peacefully on October 24th. Chip was first and foremost a family man. He recently celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife and best friend Patti. He was proud father to James III and Kathryn Gormley (Jesse and Katie respectively), father-in- law to Allison and Sean. His favorite time was when he was together with his grandchildren Patton (11) and Charlotte (9).
A native of Pottsville, PA, Chip spent time in Hudson, OH and the bulk of his career in Blue Bell, PA before moving to Naples in 2010. He spent his professional life in the technology space as National Sales Manager for companies including Xerox, Bluestone and Noosh. He was a born leader and mentor. After completing high school at Nativity B.V.M. '64 and a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton '68, Chip became Captain Mootz, U.S.M.C. He completed 2 tours in Vietnam and was active in the Reserves until 1977.
Committed to enriching education, Chip served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Springside in Philadelphia, PA. He coached soccer and baseball in Whitpain Township.
In addition to his immediate family, Chip is survived by brothers Mike (Debi), Bob (Carolyn) and Joe (Nelly) as well as nephews Jude, Michael, Jason, Eric and Craig. He is pre-deceased by his parents James and Mary Kay and his sister Jane.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wed., Nov 3rd at 11am at St. Agnes in Naples, FL and Mon., Nov 8th at 11am at St. Helena's in Blue Bell, PA.
