James Marshall Moore, age 89, of Charleston, WV, formerly of Sewickley, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2022, at Arthur B. Hodges Center.
He was born on November 16, 1932, in New Castle, PA, son of the late Robert Royce Moore and Margaret McQueen Moore. He was also preceded in death by first wife, Ethel, and second wife, Norma, and his brothers, Harold and Robert.
Jim served his country in the US Army National Guard and retired as Lt. Col.
He always worked hard to provide for his family. Education was important to him, and he spent a good portion of his career working with publishing houses, including Bobbs-Merrill, as well as school supply companies, introducing educational materials to school districts across Pennsylvania, West Virginia and western Ohio. Early in his career, he worked with American Schools, a correspondence High School that assisted students with attaining high school diplomas, before the development of the GED. In his free time, he enjoyed target shooting and was an avid reader. After retirement he loved to travel, seeing the world on various cruises.
Jim is survived by his children, Bruce Moore (Debby) of Charleston, WV, Marcella Lynne Carey of Las Vegas, NV, Dana Moore (Stephen Bogardus) of New York, NY, and Jim Moore (Karen) of Overland Park, KS; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family will hold a private service with military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA at a later date.
