James Melvin Mitchell "Mitch", 87, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was born on Saturday, July 27, 1935 in Uniontown, Ohio to the late James and Pauline (VanDyke) Mitchell. James enjoyed golfing and hiking the Towpath Trail.
James was preceded in death by his son, James M. Mitchell, Jr., grandchild, Paul Mitchell , Jr., sisters, Florence Rufener and Susie Cole.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Connie; children, Joyce A. Johnson; Michael P. Mitchell, Sr., Patricia J. Miller, Denise L. (Ray) Kaloczi, Richard A. (Richelle) Mitchell; grandchildren, Rob Young, Jami (Jeff) Swain, Adam Mitchell, Tony (Teri) Mitchell, Cierra Hupp, Brian Hupp, Cassie Kaloczi, Rachel Kaloczi; great-grandchildren, Samantha Carruthers, Ashleigh Carruthers, Julia Swain, Jillian Swain, Jenevieve Swain, Shane Mitchell, Chase Bagnato, Greyson Goble; brother, Charles "Bud" (Barbara) Mitchell; brother-in-law, Ernie Rufener; and many other loving family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Bacher-Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH on 44319 on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. A committal service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 10, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Park Office Chapel, 2580 Romig Road, Akron, Ohio 44320. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m.
