James S. McKinnon, Sr. "Jim", 95, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022 at his home in Raymond, NH. Jim was born December 19, 1926, in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, son of the late Duncan S. McKinnon and Helen (O'Neil) McKinnon.
Jim grew up in Salem, MA and was the youngest of seven children. He was a veteran from 1943-1947, of the United States Navy, serving in World War II. While in the Navy, Jim met Marcia Blodgett and months later they were married. After his discharge from the military, they lived in Beverly, MA, before moving to Hampton, NH. They resided in Hampton over 10 years and in 1972 they moved to Raymond, NH. Jim worked very hard for his family and during the last chapter of his working career, Jim became a Boilermaker for Local 29, in Quincy, MA. Jim retired from his professional career to enjoy his latter years. He and Marcia enjoyed traveling the United States, Italy, the Rock of Gibralter and Canada, and they finally settled in Florida and became "snow birds".
Right up to last year, Jim was very vibrant, active and still driving. Jim was a member of the American Legion, the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Ray-Fre Senior Center. Jim's hobbies included reading, watching his favorite sports teams--the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots--and working in the yard with his son Frank. In his earlier years, Jim enjoyed golf and was very proud to have achieved a hole-in-one.
Jim was a very supportive father to all his seven children. His family was his proudest mark left in this world. He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Marcia E. McKinnon, son Wayne and wife, Carolyn, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, son, John and his partner, Lori Cashman, of Clearwater, Florida, son Michael and wife, Ginger, of Oakland, California, daughter Marcia Markie, of Exeter, NH, son James "Jimmy" of Manchester, New Hampshire, son Frank, of Raymond, New Hampshire, son Gary and wife, Karen Lizakowski, of Laguna Niguel, California, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by all his siblings and his son-in-law, Patrick E. Markie, Jr.
A visiting hour will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, at Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond, NH. The memorial Service will immediately follow starting at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered following at the Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of ones choosing.
