James H. "Jimmy" Linton, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family leaving his earthly home and entering his Heavenly home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 5, 2022. He was born May 9, 1932 to the late Charlie and Estelle Linton. Jimmy was a faithful member of Wade Baptist Church. He loved his church family, and he especially enjoyed his Senior Sunday School Class. Jimmy served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the 7th Ordnance Company, 60th Ordnance Group from 1952-1954. He retired as a Senior Design Specialist in the Marine Design Pipe Group at Ingalls Shipbuilding after 42 years. His passion and love of wood was evident in all the things he crafted that were displayed in his home and the homes of others. Jimmy also had a deep love for the water having grown up in the waters of the Gulf, local marshes, and rivers. Having owned many boats, he spent a lot of his life fishing, shrimping, and just being around the water. His other passion was tending to his yard where he spent countless hours creating a yard that was comparable to Bellingrath Gardens. His greatest pleasure was when his great-grandson, Ollie, would pay him a visit. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his infant sister, Dorothy Linton; sister, Carolyn (Frank) Smith; brothers, Gerald (Liz) Linton and Marvin Linton; sisters-in-law, Sue (Terry) Robbins, Poochie Wall, and Norma Linton; and brother-in-law, Doug Hosey. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Hosey Linton; son, Johnny (Claudia) Linton; grandson, Matthew Linton; granddaughters, Jennifer (Tyson) Olk and Maggie Linton; one great-grandson, Ollie Olk; and brother-in-law, Ricky (Robin) Hosey; along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Deaconess Home Health, Saad Home Health, and Hospice of Light for the care and compassion they have shown Jimmy over the last three years. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Bro. Brannon Lott officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Machpelah Cemetery with Matt Linton, Tyson Olk, Colton Harries, Ricky Hosey, Nathan Hosey, and David Boyd serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 1027, Escatawpa, MS 39552, in Jimmy's loving memory.
