Mr. James Cullen "Jake" Johnson, 94, of Warrenville, SC, husband of the late Lillian Collins Johnson, entered into rest in the comfort of his home, on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
Born in Ozark, AL, he was a son of the late Fred and Annie Heath Johnson. At the age of 18, he was drafted into the United States Army to serve his country during World War II and beyond, being honorably discharged earning the rank of Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he came to the area to begin his career as an E and I Mechanic with E.I. DuPont. He later retired from SRS as an E and I Supervisor. He attended Clearwater First Baptist Church. Jake enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, watching his grands play ball and according to his family, he could fix anything.
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include his children and their spouses, Alex Ray and Kay Chriswell, Gloverville, SC, the late Clayton Harrison Chriswell, Tessa and Bruce Attaway, North Augusta, SC and Mark Johnson and his fianc?, Sheila Limbaugh, Graniteville, SC; daughter-in-law, Melody Chriswell, Conway, SC; nephew and his wife, Mike and Dianne Johnson, Atlanta, GA; brother, Ed Johnson and his wife, the late Jane, Panama City, FL; grandchildren and their spouses, Kenny and Kim Chrsiwell, Kerry Chriswell, Kevin and Cherie Chriswell, Tessa Dawn Chriswell, Dallas Chriswell, Erin Chriswell, Norm and Kim Attaway, Noelle and Carl Shealy, Mindy and Jeff Roberts, Matthew Johnson and Rusty Johnson, great-grandchildren, Brandon Chriswell, Blake Chriswell, Bryce Chriswell, Tara Williams, Chase Chriswell, Kyle Attaway, Lukas Attaway, Austin Shealy, McClain Roberts, Ellison Roberts, K,C. Cartwright and Gage Chriswell and great-great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Attaway, Charlotte Chriswell and Carson Chriswell,.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 5 until 8 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 3 o'clock at Clearwater First Baptist Church, Clearwater SC. Pastor John Bolin will officiate. Interment with Veterans Honors accorded by a United States Army Honor Guard will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Kenny Chriswell, Kerry Chriswell, Kevin Chriswell, Norm Attaway, Rusty Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Dennis Dickey and Ted Grimes.
The care provided to Jake by Superior Nurse Solutions, especially, Patty Marter, Debbie Berry, Chandler Dunn and Lindsey Reeves is sincerely appreciated.
