James (Jimmy) Daniel Blackwell, Jr. changed his address from Myrtle Beach to Heaven on Wednesday, July 14,2021 at the age of 77.
He was born in Newport News, Virginia, on March 29, 1944 to the late James Daniel Blackwell, Sr. and the late Amy Caston Blackwell.
Jimmy was a parts manager for a few automobile dealerships in the Hartsville, Dillon, and Florence areas. He traveled to Europe and Mexico by winning trips sponsored by Ford Motor Company. Jimmy loved to travel; he visited 49 states. Jimmy loved the card game of bridge and attained the rank of Diamond Life Master. He enjoyed fishing both freshwater and saltwater. Jimmy never met a stranger. He was a great story teller of events and adventures from his early childhood through adulthood. He was a kind and humble man. Jimmy loved animals. His three favorite dogs were Babette, BooBoo, and Marty. He also loved cats some of which were Toby, Kitty Cat, Socks, Sweetie, and Miley. Jimmy was blessed with two church families The Grand Strand Community Church of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and The First Church of God in New Martinsville, West Virginia (both Anderson, Indiana affiliated).
Jimmy is survived by his wife of ten months, Patricia Ann Roberts Blackwell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and New Martinsville, West Virginia; his brother, Warren Blackwell of Hartsville, South Carolina; three sons, Derrick (Shannon) Long of Galivants Ferry, South Carolina; Erick (Jessica) Long of Redding, California ; Adam Long of Port Orchard, Washington. Grandchildren are Madison, Madeline, Neva, Ethan, Maddox, and Eliza; as well as his great granddaughter, Amyrah.; extended family members Heather Kelly ;Jim Barnhart; Caroleanne, Jaden, and Steven Williams; Randy Barnhart, Gary and Stephanie Kirkhart; Aimee and Piper Gaines; Ashley, Avery, Sydney, Colson, and Laney Shreve; Colt Lusk; Jessica and D'Markus Pennell; Billy and Carolyn Howell; Kaley Edgell; Jack and Beth Marchette; David and Mary Wood Beasley
Jimmy will be cremated.
Memorial services will be held in Myrtle Beach and New Martinsville with dates and times to be announced at a later date.
