James "Jim" Leon Hailey, 85, of Plano, TX, passed away November 30, 2022. He was born January 29, 1937, in Ardmore, OK, to Delores (Dekalfetz) & Leonard Leon Hailey. Jim graduated from Harlingen High School in 1955 & served as Student Council President. He married the love of his life, Carol Jane Massey, in Harlingen on June 9, 1957 & they were blessed with three children. Jim earned his bachelor's degree in marketing at The University of Texas class of 1959 & was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He proudly served his country in the Army ROTC - Lieutenant in the 504th M.P. at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Jim had a successful career in retail management with J.C. Penney Co. - 1959-1997. He was a Member Emeritus of the Salvation Army of North Texas Advisory Board - 1989-2021; Board of Directors for Roaring Lambs Ministry - 1998-2022; and member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano - 2008-2022. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather & friend to many. He was dearly loved & will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Hailey; his son, James "Beau" Leon Hailey II; grandchildren, Dave (Ruthie) Hailey, Sarah (Kyle) Padilla, Jessica Logan Hailey & Julia Hailey; great-grandsons, Kirk Padilla & Landon Padilla; brother-in-law, Bill Massey; and his daughter-in-law, Laura Lee Hailey.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Massey Hailey & his daughter, Joy Lynn Hailey.
A Memorial Service is December 7, 2022, 2:00 p.m., St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 5801 W. Plano Pkwy., Plano, TX, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Decker.
