James "Jim" Edward Motts, 92, of Summerville, husband of Thelma Motts, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Summerville Community Hospice House.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 1 o'clock to 2 o'clock at Boone Hill United Methodist Church, 801 Boone Hill Rd, Summerville, SC 29483.
A funeral service will begin at 2 o'clock Boone Hill United Methodist Church.
Entombment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, SC 29485.
Jim was born on January 25, 1929 in Spartanburg, SC, son of the late Adam and Ollie Mae Motts. He was retired from the US Navy. He was a member of the Mason, Shriner's, and the Scottish Rites. He played semi-pro with the Boston Braves in 1948. He Enjoys fishing for relaxation and watching the Atlanta Braves Baseball.
Survivors in addition to his wife Thelma are: two daughters: Jamie Rowell (Marcus) of Summerville and Vicki Priester (David) of Summerville; grandchildren: Heather Priester Postell (Eric), Jessica Rowell, Whitney Dugger (David), and Sarah Rowell; great grandchildren: Lauren Postell, Caroline Priester, Virginia Priester, and Wyatt Dugger. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by grandson, David Priester; and siblings: Earl Motts, Beverly Motts, Florie Martin, Francis Seay, Ruby Brown, Geraldine Morris, Jackie Lewis, and Ronnie Motts.
