James (Jim) Robert Dunlap, 79 of Bishop, Georgia, passed away on August 5, 2021.
Jim was born on June 24, 1942 in Falkville, Alabama to the late James P. & Marguerite Dunlap. Jim was raised in Columbus, GA & graduated from Baker High School Class of 1960. He was voted best personality and most sincere in high school, and was nicknamed "Little Jim" and "Dynamite Dunlap" because he was small in stature, but was quite a character and always the life of the party!
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country from 1960 to 1964 as an air policeman. After the military he married and worked for Carnation, which is now Nestle Company, until he retired.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and deer hunter, but his greatest loves were his children and grandchildren. Even though he spent most of his life in Georgia, he was a diehard Alabama fan! When football season rolled around, he would be quick to tell you who he was pulling for!
In the last 11 years of his life, he lived in Bishop, GA with his son and his family and was known to most people simply as "Pop." He made a friend wherever he went and was always quick to ask, "where you from" to start up a conversation. One of the places he enjoyed going the most was the Oconee Senior Center where he loved to play poker and bingo with all his friends.
Even though it was hard for him to express his love towards the end of his life due to dementia, he tried to show it by a touch or whisper. He is loved dearly by all that knew him and will be missed very much!
Jim was preceded in death by his parents James P. & Marguerite Dunlap, brothers Donald Jerry Dunlap & Warren Gene Dunlap and Grandson, Austin Eades.
He is survived by his son Chris Dunlap (Margo) of Bishop, GA., his daughters Joe Ann Eades(Randy) of Bishop, GA., Jeanie Hinson(Clay) of Watkinsville, GA.; grandchildren, Briana Manning(James) of Panama City Beach, FL, Alex Suarez of Athens, GA, Christopher Dunlap(Alicia) of Dublin, VA., Katie Potter, Bishop, GA., Dylan Eades of Bishop, GA., Rayle Luna, Bishop, GA., Haley Hinson, Watkinsville, GA.
A military graveside service will be held at Fort Mitchell National Commentary in Fort Mitchell Alabama on August 11th at 1:00pm for all friends and family who would like to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oconee County Senior Center in Watkinsville, GA in his name.
