James Holman passed away at the age of 89 at his home in Evans, Colorado surrounded by his family on May 4, 2020.
He was born on March 8, 1931 at his parent's home in Brighton to Albert and Elizabeth (Kramer) Holman, Volga German immigrants. He served in the Navy, during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952 aboard the USS Valley Forge.
On January 14, 1956 he married Elizabeth Marie Haberkorn. They had 3 sons, James, Wayne and Daniel.
He worked as an iron worker for Coors for 25 years. He spent many years in Kersey improving his farm, making decorative iron work and growing flowers and vegetables, which he loved. He played the accordion and harmonica and his favorite song was Beethovan's 9th.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth of Evans and one son, James (Nancy) of Kersey. He is also survived by his grandson, Jeremiah and granddaughters Elizabeth Gentry and Katerina (Chad) Holman-Balan and grandchildren, Isaac and Emmett Gentry, Aspen and Hunter Balan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Wayne and Danny and his brothers, Albert Jr., Joe, Jack and Thomas, as well as sisters Betty Baum, Barb Claus and Mary Ann Foster.
A private family service will be held at Mt. Olivet/Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary & Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
