James "Huffy" Hoffpauir passed away suddenly on July 14, 2022, due to heart failure. He would have been 82 on his birthday, August 20. To mourn his loss, Huffy leaves behind his loving wife, Janice Smith Hoffpauir; his daughters, Janna Perret (Steve), Jodi Hoffpauir (John Rahaim), and Jeana Anderson (Chris); his grandchildren, Sara, Garrett, Cayden, Carson, and Cohen; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Emily; siblings, Rebecca Marin, Winifred Carlson, and Michael "Boo" Hoffpauir; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Huffy was preceded in death by his grandson, the late Joshua; by his parents, the late Sylvia and James Hoffpauir, and by his siblings, the late Kathleen Fabra, Carl Hoffpauir, and Linda Hoffpauir. Huffy touched many lives while coaching and mentoring young ball players in St. Bernard Parish. He will be forever remembered for his kind and gentle nature, for his love of the outdoors, and for his artistic talents, including woodcarving, painting, and drawing birds, other wildlife, and nature scenes. His absence will also be felt by his wonderful neighbors, who will always look back with fondness on daily BS sessions with Huffy in the driveway. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 25, 2022, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Because Huffy passed away on the same day as his brother Carl, Huffy's funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm, following Carl's service. Huffy will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
