James T. Evans III, passed away on December 5,2023 at home, Jim was 83 and was born on July 25,1940 in Handley, Texas. Born to James T. Evans Jr. and Loretta Fay McLeroy Blaylock. He attended school at San Diego. He proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Alaska, Augusta, Germany, California and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He said one of the best experiences in his life was when he coached his grandsons in baseball. He loved fly fishing and tying his own flies and was an excellent woodworker and carver with many beautiful pieces he created that are cherished pieces of art. Jim was a carpenter by trade.
Preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Bill Blaylock, stepmother, Sue Hackler Evans, great granddaughter Norajean Rose Sherrill.
He is survived by his two daughters Maria (Donnie) Massengale of Hixson and Jeanna (Claude) Sherrill of Spring City friend and mother of his daughters Lois Eldridge Rhea, brother Tom (Huberta) Evans, sister Connie (Rodney) Hornsby, stepmother Shirley Evans, stepsister Kelly (Michael) Ragland and stepbrother Scott Haley. His incredibly special Grandsons Seth (Taylor) Sherrill and Caleb (Daphne) Sherrill 9 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, friend/neighbor Tina Draganac.
There will be no services at his request. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date for Friends and Family.
