James William Ervin, 92, of North Salem and formerly of Mooresville and Indianapolis for most of his life, went to be with the lord on May 19th, 2021. He was born July 21st, 1928 in Indianapolis to his late parents, Samuel and Marie (Bennett) Ervin. He married the late Forsee Mae (Anderson) Ervin on August 7th, 1948.
James is survived by his two loving children: Donna (Paul) Ganote of North Salem and Bill (Vickie) Wilson of Martinsville; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Ervin of Mooresville. James is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lowell Ervin; and sister, Olive Wright.
James was a truck driver for 41 years for ABF before retiring in 1986. He attended Church of God on West Washington Street in Indianapolis along with Greencastle and Mooresville where he enjoyed being the treasurer and serving his church as a board member. He enjoyed working on his John Deere tractors, loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. James liked following NASCAR and in his earlier years he raced stock cars. He enjoyed bowling and once had a perfect game.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Monday, May 24th at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Chaplain Rick Adkins will officiate the celebration of life service following the visitation in the funeral home. James will be laid to rest next to his wife, Forsee Mae Ervin at Mt. Pleasant at Hall Cemetery.
