James J. (Jim) Driscoll, Jr. died on Sunday, January 30, 2022 in Knoxville, Tenn. surrounded by his children following a brief illness and a prolonged battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on June 8, 1943 in La Jolla, Calif. to Col. James J. Driscoll and Wanda Brown Driscoll. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a diehard Tar Heels fan. He served in the Vietnam War as an Army Captain. Upon his return to civilian life, he had careers in journalism, PR and advertising, and cabinetry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother R. Paul Driscoll, and wife Mary Louise Steuterman Driscoll. He is survived by children James J. Driscoll, III (Elizabeth) of Knoxville, Tenn. and Alison Driscoll Chang (Erwin) of Austin, Tex. and grandchildren Catherine Louise Driscoll, Andrew Wells Driscoll, and Mary Mei Chang. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful caretakers and staff at Ben Atchley Veterans Home for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at Christ Covenant Church in Knoxville. There will be a graveside service for immediate family at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Tennessee State Veterans Homes or the Pat Summitt Foundation for Alzheimer's research.
