Funeral services for Mr. James D. "Jimmy" Jay age 90 will be held 2:00 pm Saturday January 8, 2022 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery. Mr. Jay entered into rest Monday January 3, 2022 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Mrs. Roma Brunson Hite Jay and a son of the late Mr. Carlous E. Jay and the late Mrs. Lessie Hutto Jay. Mr. Jay was a native of Orangeburg County, SC and had made Aiken County his home since 1936. He retired in 1993 after 28 years of service with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources as a game warden in Aiken County, as well as other surrounding counties. Mr. Jay was a member of the Ridge Spring Baptist Church, Ridge Spring, SC and enjoyed fishing, humming birds, Honey Bees, a good game of golf and Jimmy was also know for his work and restoration of violins. He was passionate for the Lord, his wife, and his family. Additional survivors include two sons, James Roger (Donna) Jay, Georgetown, TX, Dennis C. Jay, Augusta, GA, one step son, Bubba Hite, Aiken; two daughters, Marlene (Lewis) Parker, Graniteville, Laurie Simone Balbag, New Ellenton, three step daughters, Sidney Louise Schifferli, Aiken, Wanda Lista, Aiken, Adeline Hughes, Eureka; twenty five grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and thirty two great great grandchildren. Mr. Jay was predeceased by one brother, Rev. David Jay, two sisters, Ruth Whittle and Dorothy Blackmon. Pallbearers will be John Schifferli, Brent Parker, Josh Hughes, Justin Johnson, Scott Hite, and Bubba Hite. In lieu of flower the family has suggested that donations be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org. A visitation with the family will take place 6-8 pm Friday January 7, 2022 at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY PASS) AIKEN, SC, 29801. 803-648-7175.
