James "Jim" A. Crowhurst

James Albert (Jim) Crowhurst went home to be with Jesus on May 18, 2022 at the age of 79 years, at his home in Fredericksburg, Texas.
He was born in Hempstead, Texas on Oct. 2, 1942, to Albert Edward and Maggie Pearl Crowhurst. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, Texas in 1960. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin in 1967 and went on to work for IBM for 41 years. During his time at IBM, Jim contributed to the Apollo Lunar Lander Simulation and Space Shuttle Launch Processing projects.
Jim's community involvement included his service as an Elder at churches in Houston, Florida and most recently at Hill Country Church in Fredericksburg.
He was a graduate of Leadership Gillespie County Class of 2014; he served as a Chamber Ambassador; he was a member of the Fredericksburg Noon Rotary Club, a Guardian of the Gillespie County Historical Society, and a member of the Fredericksburg Vintage Car Club, where he enjoyed driving his restored 1950 Studebaker.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald, as well as his late wife, Judi Crowhurst.
He is survived by his wife, Annette; brother and sister-in-law, William and Anna Crowhurst; sons and their spouses, Jeff and Georgia Crowhurst, Jason and Suzette Crowhurst, Jeremy and Cindy Crowhurst, and stepdaughters and their spouses, Robin and Bobby Watson, and Cindy and Randy Smith, as well as six grandchildren: Jordan, Micaela, Grace, Lauren, Joy and Gabbi and husband, Branden Vineyard, and four step grandchildren: Elliott Boone, Lindsay Coffee, Kaitlyn Smith and Hayden Smith and their families.
Jim had a cheerful heart like none other. He always saw the best in people and was a spiritual mentor to many, showing the personal, unconditional love of Christ with all that he encountered. His smile and laughter are continually held in memory by his family and many friends.
