James A. Cantara, 67, died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
James was born July 28, 1953, in Concord, NH, a son of Francis and Claire (Turgeon) Cantara. He graduated from Windsor High School and went on to work for the Windsor Schools and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, and much later for Price Chopper in Windsor. James was a proud Volunteer Firefighter in Windsor for over 30 years.
He was a member of the BPOE Elks and the American Legion SAL in Windsor. James would help them with every fundraiser that they would put on with an eager spirt to help. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to spend time camping.
He is predeceased by his wife, Ruth; father, Francis; and stepfather, Peter Kilfeather.
He is survived by two daughters, Amy Cantara of Hillsboro, NH and Terri Vanella and husband Jack of Concord, NH; a grandson, Ty; mother Claire Kilfeather of Hartland; three stepsons, Derman Andrews, Curt Andrews and wife Marlen, all of Windsor, and Todd Andrews of Springfield, VT; stepdaughter, Juanita Abbott and husband Nathan of Ascutney, VT; three step grandchildren; two brothers, Dana Cantara and wife Becky of Springfield, VT, and Bruce Cantara and wife Sue of Charlestown, NH; two stepsisters, Janice Mackey and wife Robin of Cornish, NH and Kalleen Sidler and her husband Brian of Springfield.
A graveside service and Elks service will be held 11am, Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at St. Francis Cemetery in Windsor. Masks must be worn, and social distancing practiced by order of the governor.
