James Francis Burgmaier has gone to be at peace with his late wife Susan, at his final resting place on October 21, 2022.
Jim was born on December 29, 1939, to Frank and Katherine (McCann) Burgmaier, in Toledo, Ohio. Jim and his late wife Sue, lived in Toledo, Ohio for 43 years. There he spent many years as Division Controller in accounting for Doehler-Jarvis. He later moved to Houston, Texas to continue his career as Controller with Baroid-Halliburton. After years in Houston and retirement, they decided to move back north to the cool weather in Lexington, Kentucky, where his one son Mark and his family lived.
While enjoying retirement living, they could be seen traveling. They enjoyed time in the winter visiting Florida, where their other son Mike and his wife reside. They traveled to Europe a couple of times to play golf and sightsee. One highlight of a European trip, was playing the famed St. Andrews Old Course with his sons.
Jim was an avid golfer and love playing and watching the game. For years, he was a member at Valleywood Golf Club in Swanton, Ohio and later in Texas, at Kingwood Country Club. His greatest joy was being able to play golf with his wife and sons throughout the years.
Jim is survived by two sons, Mike (Debbie) of South Pasadena, Florida, and Mark (Michelle) of Lexington. Also surviving are three Grandchildren, Kasey Burgmaier, Mallory (Brandon)Bentley, Matthew (Olivia) Burgmaier, and one Great Granddaughter, Layne Burgmaier.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Katherine Burgmaier, sister Barbara Wagner, and his wife Susan Burgmaier.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 27, from 7:00-8:00 p.m., at The Cathedral of Christ the King. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m., at The Cathedral of Christ the King, with internment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to UK Markey Cancer Center, or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
The family wishes to thank Bluegrass Hospice Care and the Central Baptist Nurses for their kind care.
Rest in peace Jim, you will be dearly missed, but we know that you and Sue are eternally together.
