James Vere Beck went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 28, 2022 at Mackenzie Place in Colorado Springs. He was born May 18, 1930 to Peter and Louise (Tucker) Beck in Medford, Massachusetts. He graduated from Medford High School in 1948 and his father died shortly thereafter. For four years, he ran the family ice and oil business before deciding to sell the business to go to college. He graduated from Tufts University in 1956 and earned a Master's degree from MIT and a PhD from Michigan State University. He spent his career as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MSU, wrote three books on the topic of Heat Transfer and earned the Distinguished Faculty award. One of his favorite hobbies was genealogy. He spent many years researching the Beck family and organizing reunions on Prince Edward Island in Canada where his father was born. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara and his sister Phyllis. He is survived by his two children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service is planned for November 21 at 11AM at CrossWay Multinational Church on Hagadorn Road in East Lansing. Jim has been buried next to his wife and parents in Peabody, Massachusetts
