Mr. James Harold Anderson, age 90, passed away on October 22, 2022. He was born on March 30, 1932, to Albert Alonso and Mary Alice Anderson.
Harold attended Rocky Mount High School, where he enjoyed playing baseball for four years. He also played in the American Legion League and during his time in the Air Force.
Harold served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Following his military service, became a firefighter for the City of Rocky Mount and later retired from Belk.
He and Peggy were long-time members of Calvary Baptist Church where they worshipped as a family and made life-long friendships. He had many dear friends with whom he enjoyed walking at the mall and playing horseshoes in his backyard. He also enjoyed being with his family and camping at White Lake.
Harold is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Collins Anderson; daughters, Cynthia Speight and Deborah Connor; granddaughter, Erin Kennedy (Andrew); sister-in-law, Katherine Collins; and nephew, Gus Cobb (Connie).
The family would like to thank Dr. Doug Slater and his nurse, Donna, for their care for Harold for many years. We would also like to thank the many staff members of CenterWell Home Health for their care for Harold over the last several months.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 2:00pm at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
