Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann (Sterkel) Smith, 74, of Conover, NC, went home to be with Jesus on February 20, 2022. Jackie was born on May 15th, 1947 to Jake and Ruby Sterkel, in Denver, CO. She graduated from Loveland High, in Loveland, CO. She was highly experienced in accounting and bookkeeping; and ultimately started her own company, MayDay Services Inc.; a Medical Insurance claim firm. Jackie always dreamed of being a mother and adopted 3 boys. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother. She excelled at encouraging family and friends. She was the optimistic voice that supported them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She found great joy in trying to improve the lives of others by demonstrating love and fairness. Towards the end of her life she was often the uplifting voice to her home aids, nurses and caregivers. She will be missed greatly. She is survived by oldest son Michael Kaveny and Tessa Kaveny, of Hickory, NC, and her twin sons Scott Adam Kaveny, of Park City, Utah, and Kelly Andrew Kaveny, of Margate, FL, as well as her Granddaughter, of Michael and Tessa Kaveny, Caitlin Kaveny, her oldest sister Sharon Gardner of Kerrville, TX and her older brother Ron and his wife Roy of Loveland, CO, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing" 2 Corinthians 5:2. A special Thank You and heart felt gratitude to ALL the staff members of Carolina Caring of Newton, NC. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her memory to Carolina Caring (Hospice), 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 28658 - memo stating: J.Smith Memorial. A celebration of her life will be announced to family and friends.
