Jacqueline "Jacquie" Cassandra Bugg (Shobe) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday March 1, 2022, with the love of her family surrounding her.
Jacquie was born in Sedalia, Missouri, November 20, 1944 to George and Rosalie Shobe. She was raised in Coffeyville, Kansas, and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1962. After graduation and a year at Coffeyville Community College she moved to Topeka, KS.
In 1970 she married Robert Bugg and together they would raise three sons and devote their lives to the Topeka community. Through the years Jacquie had a variety of employment, but the position she loved the most was the twelve years she spent serving the citizens of the 2nd District while serving as a District Aide to Congressman Jim Slattery, later she would be appointed to serve on the City of Topeka Civil Service Board. In 1985, while her husband Robert was known as the architect behind Living the Dream, Inc., everyone involved knows that Jacquie was the builder and build they did, together with a diverse group of community members they created a celebration that began with 100 guests at the Governor's Mansion to an event held at Ramada Downtown with guests some years reaching nearly 1000. The event has become known as one of longest and largest running celebrations in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the country and has provided hundreds of area high school students with college scholarships.
Jacquie had many hobbies that included genealogy, cooking, listening to doo-wop and old school soul music, playing computer games, and she loved a good cup of coffee! Jacquie loved politics, and would start her morning watching political news and ended her night watching local news in between the news, her television would be filled with westerns and old shows she grew up watching and the shows she loved watching through the years. The television was always the first thing on and the last thing off. She was a very involved in the community and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Topeka Democrat Party and a member of the Topeka Chapter of Links, Inc. where she served as a past president.
There are many more memories and accomplishments that could be shared about Jacquie Bugg but I know for her, that her family and friends came first. Jacquie is survived by her husband of 51 years Robert. She was a proud mom to three sons: Glen (Deborah), Chris (Jan) and Anton, all of Topeka. Jacquie is also survived by many grandkids and great-grandkids, grand dogs, grand cats, and many more family and friends. She is also survived by three siblings: George Shobe, Jr, Coffeyville, KS, Montra White (Raymond) Topeka, KS, and Maria Cosper, Topeka, KS, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Phillip Shobe and a child lost at birth.
