Monticello, GA - Jacqueline Rainwater Cavender, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Jackie was born on December 12, 1935, to the late Reverend Guy Clinton Rainwater, Sr. and Lucy D. (Johns) Rainwater in Atlanta, GA. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1953 & married the love of her life, Fred Cavender, in July of 1954. They were one month shy of celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary at the time of his passing.
Jackie held many work titles throughout her life, but her favorite was being the 14th Clerk of Butts County. She received her certified Financial Officer designation from the University of Georgia. She officially retired from her position in 2001 and was honored by the commissioners for her knowledge, work ethic and faithfulness. She was fondly known as "Miss Jackie" and "The Queen" and enjoyed coming back to work occasionally to help whenever needed. Not only was Jackie a dedicated grandmother, she volunteered for many years with the Piedmont Academy Grandparents Club holding the title of secretary until her health no longer allowed her to do so.
In her spare time, Mama J enjoyed reading, baking pound cakes & cookies, watching her beloved Braves & Bulldogs and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jackie was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred Cavender, her parents, Rev. Guy & Lucy Rainwater, her brother, Guy C. Rainwater, Jr. and her son-in-law, Robert C. Costea, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Karla C. Tuggle (Bob), of Monticello, GA.; Karen Costea, of Concord, NC; her 4 grandchildren: Glade Tuggle and Lucy Tuggle of Monticello, GA. And Robert Costea, Jr. (Sarah) and Ana Costea of Concord, NC; and her great grandchild: Asher Costea of Concord, NC and many nieces and nephews.
