Wadsworth -- Jacqueline S. Kreider, age 91, died peacefully on Nov. 30, 2021 of natural causes at Liberty Residence II Assisted Living. Jackie was born October 26, 1930 to the late Walter H. Douse Simonson and Ethel D. (MacDonald) Green of Brooklyn, NY. Her father died in 1933. Her mother married Dr. Leon Green who was a loving stepfather.
Jackie graduated High School from the Berkeley Carroll School of Brooklyn in 1947. She then attended the University of Rochester in NY, majoring in Fine Arts.
She was introduced to her future husband by her mother and a family friend where Edward was staying while working as a service engineer for Babcock & Wilcox. They married in 1956 and moved to Zanesville, Ohio. Two years later they built their home of 60 years in Wadsworth, Ohio.
Jackie was very active in raising their three daughters. She was also a member of a variety of organizations including Women's Club, Garden Club, Art & History Club, Bridge Club, and Circle Club of the United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was an excellent needlepointer and was a long-time member of Stan Hywet Needlework Guild in Akron, OH where she also served as Librarian. She won numerous ribbons for entries in Stitchery Showcase over many years. She was also a member of the Somedayers group of women who always dreamt of finishing all of their purchased projects, and of the Embroiderer's Guild of America.
Jackie enjoyed giving to others and rescuing stray cats. She loved reading, especially about the Hudson River Valley and Colonial America. She also collected antique sewing implements from the Victorian era. She filled her time attending auctions and antique stores. She loved traveling to New England, especially Cape Cod.
Jackie was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Kreider; sister, Mrs. Shirley (Simonson) Manheim; and niece, Donna (Manheim) Kinnear. She is survived by daughters, Anne Kreider, Nancy (Kreider) Goodwin (Jesse), and Louisa Kreider.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 7th, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec 8th at the funeral home with Pastor Dale Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
