Jacquelyn Sue "Jackie" Cason of Odessa, Texas passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Jackie was born Jacquelyn Sue Burnett on October 31, 1946, in Lubbock, Texas to Alvin Anderson and Rosalie Samsel Burnett. She was named in honor of female aviation pioneer Jacqueline Cochran.
She was a 1965 graduate of Tahoka High School. High school was a very active time for Jackie. She enjoyed music and singing, receiving a college scholarship in vocal performance. Her amazing vocal talents were featured as a member of a group called Folkway Trio that performed at local events. As a member of the high school band, she was a trumpet player. Jackie was drum major and elected band sweetheart her senior year. She was also very active in her high school Future Homemakers of America (FHA).
Jackie was also very involved in music programs at the First Baptist Church in Tahoka. She was especially proud of a patriotic program, Sounds of Patriotism, that she created and performed at area service organizations churches, revivals, and even on local television.
On October 1, 1965, Jackie married Thomas Allen Cason in Lubbock, Texas. They began their married life in Lubbock, where she worked at Lubbock National Bank as a teller advancing to the mortgage loan and trust departments.
In 1973, Allen and Jackie moved their family to Odessa to establish, own and operate Billy Sims Trailer Town. She remained working there as Office Manager until 2022. Jackie was also instrumental and involved in the Trailer Town Travelers RV camping club.
Jackie was a member of 6th and Jackson Church of Christ in Odessa for 50 years. She and Allen were a part of the church Breakfast Ministry, serving the homeless and less fortunate, for over 30 years. She was also a bible school teacher, in the cradle role ministry (18 months- 3 years of age), for many years.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Allen, son and daughter-in-law Todd and Gail Cason, daughter and son-in-law Leigh Ann and Tobias McGlinn, grandsons Magnum and Maveric Cates and several special cousins.
Services were held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Serving as pallbearers were Todd Cason, Tobias McGlinn, Magnum Cates, Tim Kimbel, Heath Hoggat, Oliver Kimbel, Jimmy Wingrove and Al Knapp.
