Jackie L. Zafft, 60, of Estelline, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Private family funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, December 23, 2020, and will be livestreamed on the Geise Funeral Home Facebook page. Masks are asked to be worn when attending the service.
Jackie Lee Zafft was born on May 4, 1960, in Estelline, SD, the daughter of Norman and Charlotte (Veneklasen) Zafft. Jackie attended school at Estelline and was a graduate of Estelline High School in 1979. Jackie spent 2 years at Advance in Brookings, before moving back to Estelline. She went on to work for 33 years at Northern Grain Insect Lab. While there she was given an award from the State of South Dakota and Governor George Mickelsen "for providing volunteer services in her community to the citizens of South Dakota." Jackie also spent 22 years working at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center as an Activities Aid.
Jackie was baptized and a lifelong member of Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed solving word search puzzles, listening to music and traveling. She went on many trips with her parents, and was able to visit 38 states. Jackie loved her families at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center as well as at Northern Grain Insect Research Lab. She also kept close to all of her high school classmates.
Jackie is survived by her mother, Charlotte Zafft, of Estelline, SD; brother, Terry Zafft, of Edgerton, MN; brother-in-law, Don Collins, of Huron, SD; two nephews, Steve Collins and Tom Zafft; nieces, Teri Eggen and Traci Obbink; great nieces, Karli Buys and Chloe Obbink, great nephews, Alex Buys, Trenton Buys and Chase Obbink; special family friend, Steve Verhoek along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Norman Zafft and sister, Jeanne Collins.
