Jackie Arnell Smotherman, 90, of Odessa, TX passed away on October 21, 2021, at Courtyard Memory Center in Odessa, Texas.
Jackie was born on February 12, 1931, to John and Ruthie Ethyl (Gray) Truesdell in Rural Stephens County, Texas. Jackie attended school in Caddo, Texas. She married Jack Huffman in 1946. They had 4 daughters, Gina, Debbie, Tricia, and Vanessa.
Jackie was a barber in Odessa, Tx for 46 years. She owned and operated Rockhill Barber Shop and always considered her customers to be her extended family. She retired at the age of 83. Jackie's barbershop was her platform for her ministry. Jackie was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed sewing, woodworking, toll painting, leather tooling, and making delicate porcelain lace figurines all of which were shared with and will be cherished by her family. Jackie enjoyed dancing, hiking, annual sister's trips, practical jokes, and baking. She will be remembered for her coveted homemade pies. Jackie was a strong Christian woman of faith and she instilled her passion for the love of God to her girls.
In March of 2015, Jackie married Roy Smotherman who was a wonderful husband and caregiver until the end.
She is survived by her spouse Chleo "Roy" Smotherman (Jackie) of Odessa, TX; three daughters, Gina Bradford-Trochelman (Lee), Debbie Williams (Bobby), and Vanessa Garner (Gary); seven grandchildren, Salena Bradford, Jim LaCrosse, Crissy LaCrosse, Charlotte Krahmer (Ben), Jennifer Williams, Robby Williams, and Matthew Jones (Lara); four great-granddaughters, Emmory Williams, Madisyn LaCrosse, Kaylee Wall (Blake), and Chloe Hull; and one sister, Portia Foerster (Roy).
She is preceded in death by one daughter, Tricia Jones; one granddaughter, Barbie Ford; one great-grandson, Haden Williams; her parents, John Benjamin and Ruthie Ethyl (Gray) Truesdell; and seven siblings, Orval Truesdell, Clarice Herricks, J B Truesdell, Denzil Truesdell, Zella Williams, Norma Reid, and Naomi Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at American Heritage Funeral Home in Midland, TX.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the American Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory with Byron McWilliams officiating. Burial will take place at American Heritage Cemetery.
