Jack Morris Saks Jr., 81, of Bloomington passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his residence.
Born, September 17, 1938 in Gadsden, Alabama he was the son of Jack M. Saks Sr. and Rosabel (Myer) Saks.
Jack attended University of Alabama where he was a manager for Coach Bear Bryant. Jack came to Bloomington in the early 1960's. He spent the next 30 years working for Monroe Beverage selling Miller beer products.
Retirement wasn't for Jack he worked part time for Motor Service and Napa Auto Parts. Anyone that knew Jack, knew he loved his job and all of the people that he met through the years. Jack loved life and lived every day to the fullest.
He enjoyed auto racing and made yearly trips to the Indianapolis 500, The Brickyard 400, and The Formula One.
His love of horse racing took him to Keeneland Race Track every year. In the fall you could find Jack and Linda in their motor home at Franklin College Football Games tailgating and watching their grandson play.
He loved following all sports, whether it be on television or reading newspapers. But more than anything Jack loved being around his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda (Thomas) Saks and his three daughters; Jackie Jackson (Brad), Jodi Key and Jeri Gossman (Dave), seven grandchildren; Taylor and Jordy Jackson, Kaegen, Lily and Tate Key, and Jack and Nate Gossman, great grandson; Ryker Tague. He also has a brother Charles "Bo" Saks (June) of Norfolk, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Rosabel.
He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him.
The family will receive friends 2:00-7:00pm Friday, November 15, 2019 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington, IN.
Jack was an avid supporter of the Indianapolis Zoo ([email protected]) and St. Jude Children's Hospital ([email protected]). In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Jacks name to either of these.
