Mr. Jack "Morris" Rice, age 82, of Armuchee, GA, passed away quietly July 17, 2021.
Born May 29, 1938, in Cherokee County, GA to Mr. O. D. "Jack" and Verna Rice. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents and his beautiful sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Alma W. Rice. Mr. Rice, like his father, was a "Jack of All Trades." He grew beautiful vegetable gardens, raised horses with his children, and created some of the most beautiful furniture. He was always willing to help others and lend a helping hand. He loved to go camping and fishing, but mostly he loved to spend time with his family. Mr. Rice was a member of Floyd Springs Baptist Church. He loved the Lord Jesus and would share that love with all he met.
Mr. Rice worked for over 20 years at the former Fox Furniture Manufactory in Rome. He retired after 25 years at the Rome City Water Department as a carpenter.
Mr. Rice is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Barbara Rice of Sharpsburg, Georgia; his daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Scott Bevis of Cedartown, Georgia; sisters, Myrle (Don) Hall of Claxton, Georgia, Mildred Simpson, and Beth Rice of Rome; grandchildren, Jordan and Chantell Rice of Newnan, Wyatt and Erica Bevis of Cleveland, Tennessee, Kaycie and Erik Lipetz of Adairsville, Jonathon Rice of Valdosta, Jack Bevis and Brooke Jensen of Rome, and Senior Airman Jacob Rice of Moody Air Force Base; great-grandchildren, Carter and Hudson Bevis, Aiden and Autumn Rice, and Stella Lipetz; sisters-in-law, Kay McCarly, Ann Goss and Jackie and Gary Hortman; brother-in-law, Willis White; nieces and nephews and he also leaves his little dog, Lola.
A graveside service will be held on on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 3:30pm in Floyd Memory Gardens. His son, Tim Rice, and grandson, Wyatt Bevis, will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until 2:45pm on Sunday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 2:30pm on Sunday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, and include: Jordan Rice, Wyatt Bevis, Erik Lipetz, Jonathon Rice, Jack Bevis and Jacob Rice.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
