Jack McDougal
Loving Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew and Friend. Join us in celebrating Jack. Please share photos and stories here and invite others.
If you were lucky enough to be in Jack's life, you know the unbelievably kind, funny, selfless, loving and amazing person he was. Nobody could have asked for a better son, brother, or friend. He was an exceptional athlete, hard worker, perfectionist, and he loved the outdoors. He loved to hike, fish, hunt, free dive, and surf. Nothing was more important to him than spending time talking, laughing and story telling with the people he loved. His heart had no boundaries and nor did his friendships. No matter age, location, or interest, Jack found his way into everyone's hearts and minds. He touched everyone in such a special way only you can understand.
Unfortunately, addiction found Jack at a young age after a sports injury that led to surgeries and a terribly long hospital stay coupled with years of pain, trauma and PTSD. For the last 7 years, he fought valiantly battling this disease, doing this more for his family than himself. Through all his pain the most important thing for him was always caring for and helping others.
In Jack's honor, his family is establishing a foundation in his name to help people and families struggling with addiction. Jack always cared more about helping others than himself and we'd like to carry forward his loving and caring spirit in this way.
Addiction grows in the darkness. Please help us shine light and bring hope to others suffering. Talk to your loved ones and don’t be afraid to seek help. Just like Jack, we will be strong and never stop fighting.
En Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Jack's temporary GoFundMe while we establish a foundation in his name.
