Jack Harr Mason

Jack Harr Mason, 98, of Fairmont passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 in Fairmont. He was born on February 24, 1925 a son of the late Hugh N. Mason and Mildred Warden Mason. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sallie Jo Cox Mason, whom he married on September 3, 1986. He is also survived by is daughters Connie Towels, Sue Randolph. Son-in-law Forrest(Pat) Cain. Step Children Ann Jeanette Starks, Darlene Heldreth(Howard), Rebecca Quinn, Jonathan Vandergrift(Kerry), Timothy Vandergrift(Amy) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings Hugh (Jinx) Mason, his wife Nancy, David Mason, his wife Joyce, Barbara Coe, her husband Joe, and daughter Nina Cain. Jack was a veteran of the United States Navy proudly serving during WWII. After returning from serving he worked for Ray's Jewelry as a watchmaker. In later years, Jack mastered the trade of masonry retiring at the young age of 88. He always enjoyed his favorite pastime of fishing with his friends and family with many trips to Canada for week long fishing trips. Jack was a founding member of Covenant Church and loved volunteering with the children's ministry as a puppeteer. Jack was well loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Interment will be held at West Virginia National Cemetery on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy and the Harrison County Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life for friends and family on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 4pm, Covenant Church in Fairmont, WV Pastor Josh Morgan officiating.
