Jack O. Kivett Born: May 31, 1930 in High Point, NC Died: May 31, 2022 in Huntley, IL Jack O. Kivett, age 92, died peacefully on May 31, 2022 surrounded by his family and friends after a long battle with heart and kidney disease. The Navy was Jack's first love and where he found a home. He retired after 20 years of service in order to actively raise his family. Jack was a proud Veteran who continued to support the US Armed Forces in memory of his brothers. After retiring from the Navy, Jack worked as a power plant operator for many years at Goodyear and later on at Great Lakes Naval Base. After retiring from civil service, he continued working part time until he was 85-years-old. Jack was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved riding his BMW. In his free time he enjoyed going for walks with his dog and stopping to chat with his friends and neighbors. He found great joy in taking care of people and making them laugh, and he loved to hate the Cubs. Jack was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Jack is survived by his loving daughter: Deborah L. Kivett; his grandson: Cameron T. Kivett; as well as his sister: Irene Hunt. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years: Valeria J. Kivett; his son: Jason F. Kivett; his parents Ira L. and Etta M. Kivett; his brothers: Ira L. Kivett Jr., Richard I. Kivett and Jay C. Kivett. Memorial Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 2pm to 5pm with Military Honors Ceremony at 4:45pm. Burial at Sea will be scheduled in the near future. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jack's name may be directed to American Cancer Association, National Kidney Foundation or ASPCA.
