Jack "Hydroplane" Deloplaine, age 68, of Anderson, SC, husband to Kathleen Deloplaine, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born April 21, 1954, in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Jack Arthur Deloplaine and Dorothy Hoster Deloplaine.
The majority of Jack's career was spent with the Pittsburgh Steelers where he was Running Back/Special Teams Captain. He also had stints with the Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears where he was a fullback, blocking for Walter Payton. Jack became a Super Bowl Champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers when they won Super Bowl XIII; he received a Super Bowl Ring. Jack thoroughly enjoyed coaching youth sports for many years and he also volunteered for the Special Olympics. He impacted many lives in his years of coaching and volunteering with the youth of his community. Jacks next major coaching stint was aimed at his three grandsons, but unfortunately that part of his career was unexpectedly cut short. As a parent and grandparent, he was ahead of his time and constantly inventing creative ways to coach and make sports training fun.
Throughout his life and career Jack played in numerous charity golf events in order to raise money for various organizations. It was important to him to always serve and care for others. He was known to his family, friends, and acquaintances for always "making a long story short". Jack was inducted into Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and Salem College Halls of Fame. Jack was very humble with his accomplishments throughout his career, which helped him relate to anyone and impact their lives.
He was extremely proud of his wife of 42 years "Kate", his two sons, Ryan Deloplaine (Jackie) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Todd R. Deloplaine (Alexa) of Anderson, SC; and three grandsons, Tyler, Chase, and Shane Deloplaine. Jack looked forward to mentoring his grandchildren as they grew in life and developed in sports. Jack is also survived by his brother, James Deloplaine (Barbara) of Pottstown, PA; and sister, Sharon Deputy (Terry) of Fleetwood, PA. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of crossing his path in life.
