Jack Allen Green, Jr Age 93 of Tega Cay, SC, formerly of Youngsville, NC, passed away August 12, 2021 at his residence. He was born December 1, 1927 in Youngsville, to the late Jack Allen Green, Sr., and Helen Hart Green. Jack was married to his beloved wife, Shirley Green, for 70 years, after meeting her on a blind date, while serving in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife, 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was born in Youngsville, NC where at age 5, he began working in his dad's corner grocery store and assisted on the family farm. He was a 1952 graduate of Wake Forest College and eventually moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he raised his family for the next 66 years. He was instrumental in instilling the love of boating and water sports to his family at the Lake Wylie river house. He loved telling stories and had been known to embellish them just a little bit each time he retold them.... For 20 years he was the production manager and purchasing agent for Whiten Machine Works in Charlotte. He later started his own manufacturer's representative company called Green Sales Company. He served in several capacities as a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Charlotte, Christ the King Church, and Lake Wylie Lutheran Church. He will be buried in his beloved hometown of Youngsville, NC with his family that predeceased him. Those that preceded him in death include his parents, Jack Allen Green, Sr., and Helen Hart Green, a son Jack Allen Green, III, brother-in-law Harold H. (Rick) Reddick Sr., his nephew, Harold H. (Ricky) Reddick Jr. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Shirley H. Green, son, Walter C. Green and wife Paula, his daughter Carol Myrtle Green, daughter-in-law Sally G. Green, five grandchildren, Jack Allen Green, IV and wife Sarah, Mary Nell Kane and husband Tommy, Christopher G. Green and wife Sara, Leah B. Green, Jessica L. Rushing and husband Tommy, four great-grandchildren, Olivia Kane, Eliza Kane, Harris Green, and Thomas Rushing, III, his sister Mattie Green Reddick.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Christ the King Church, 13501 S. Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28278. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Youngsville Town Cemetery in Youngsville, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Youngsville Museum of History - 120 W Franklin St Youngsville, NC, NC 27596.
