Jack R. Elliott, 79, of Athens, TN joined his heavenly father on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
Preceded in death by his parents, Toy and June Elliott of Knoxville, TN; three sisters and two brothers.
Survived by his wife of 55 years, Gwen Elliott; two daughters, Lt. Colonel Mitzi Elliott and Jackie Elliott Fister, MD; son-in-law, Zach Fister; grandsons, Patrick, Oliver, Adam, Max, and Jack; sister, Billie Hill; sister-in-law, Tammy Poteet.
He graduated from Fulton High School in 1961. He served in the Marine Corps from 1961- 1965 during the Cuban Crisis. He and Gwen married in 1967. He was employed by Johns Manville from 1967 to 2004 where he was an inventor of two patents. He became a member of the McMinn Co Community in 1982. After retiring from Johns Manville in 2004, he extended his career at MWMB in Clarkesville, TN from 2004 to 2007, and finally retired in 2007. He is a 33-degree Mason and enjoyed serving the Masons for many years. He was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church.
He enjoyed his family, pets (especially Spunky), gardening and outdoor work. Most of all, he was a kind and generous man who never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Dunsmore and Dennis Bordwine officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble Friday, June 17th at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville, TN for the 1:00 p.m. Committal service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be given to North Etowah Baptist Church, 231 PA Ave., Etowah, TN 37331 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
