Obituary
On September 6th, 2021, our Lord chose to call the most wonderful man & the light of my life Home to Him. The epitome of a son, brother, husband, father, & grandfather, he was a kind, gentle and caring man who always looked for the best in others and gave them the best that he had. He saw his reason for living as Caretaker of those he loved, and he filled that role successfully. I pray that he knows just how very much we loved him. Thank you, Jack, for all that you have given me – your love, your life, your all. “I’ll meet you in the Morning, Sweetheart – Rest in Peace, I love You.”
Jack Caddell (Aka Dad, and Papa) left this earthly, temporary home for his everlasting heavenly home. Born October 4th, 1928 he was just shy of his 93rd birthday by only four (4) weeks. As much as he is and will always be missed, life did not short him.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, 249 days, Carrie Lou Caddell. Married on September 15, 1956, this coming Wednesday, September 15th would have marked 65 years of marriage. They were and are in agreement that they had made the 65 year mark and the upcoming date was simply a formality. He is also survived by his three boys, Jack (and wife Lori), Mike (and wife Patrica), Bret; and his long-lost AND found daughter Tamara Pinckard (and husband Jesse). He was blessed with eight (8) grandkids, Jessica Peters (and husband Matt), Terah Johnson (and husband David), Michael Glenn Caddell, Danielle Caddell, Savanna Cay Caddell, Bret Caddell (and his wife Shelby), Justin Caddell (“Possum” to Papa), and Haley Beth Caddell. Blessings on top of blessings included nine (9) great-grandkids, Sydnee Peters Shelbie Peters, Nicholas Johnson, Mackenzie Johnson, Karleigh Johnson, Kiahlynn Caddell, Colbie Caddell, Beckham Caddell and Otis Theodore Jackson; and for extra measure, one great-great-grandson, Jesse Johnson, and one adopted little mixed mutt named “Rowdy”.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, preceded in death by his parents, D.B. and Sinie Caddell; his brothers, Tony, Bill, and C.W.; and his sister, Eva Lee Butcher.
He made a new best friend during this past year with his caretaker, Ms. Barbara Givens. They cared for and treated each other like family although it was costumed, in his sense of humor, as a perpetual argument. They were perfectly matched and a better choice could not have been found. The family’s gratitude and appreciation for Barbara is and will always be immeasurable.
He spent most of his entire life in Dallas moving to Tyler only five years ago. He went to work at Dallas Power and Light (DP&L) in the mailroom in 1946 at the age of 17 and stayed for 41 years, retired in August of 1987 at the age of 59 as a supervisor in the Accounting Department. He enjoyed his retirement of 34 years. He loved nothing more than family vacations and having his family around him for any reason.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday, September 13th, 2021 at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home located at 12649 Lake June Rd, Balch Springs, TX 75180.
