Jack Bauder Tatum passed away on August 12, 2020 at the age of 91. He was born on May 23, 1929 in Mexia, TX to Clifford Leland Tatum and Estelle Violet Bauder Tatum. The Tatums moved to Highland Park in the 1940s and then University Park in 1952. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Jones-Tatum (who died in 1985). He married his second wife of four years, Rosalind Elaine Wasnick Tatum Butterfield of Hawaii, in 1971. He is survived by his daughters Constance Elaine Tatum of Austin, TX and Carol Ann Tatum of Dallas, TX. Jack was an accomplished musician having played alto sax and trumpet from an early age. Jack graduated from Highland Park High School in 1946 where he was a member of the Highlander Band. Jack majored in business at Southern Methodist University graduating in 1951. He was a member of the Mustang Band and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was Staff Sargent in the Army National Guard, 49th Armored Division, Dallas, TX (1951-1958) where he fired as an "Expert" with the M1 carbine. Jack was Credit Manager for Ryerson Steel in Dallas. In the late 1960s, Jack moved to Santa Monica, CA and in the early 1970s, he worked for the Craig Corporation. Jack went on to work as Western Regional Manager of Distribution for MCA Records where he was a well-respected record executive. He attended many album release parties including Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" party in Westwood with his two young daughters Connie and Carol. Jack loved jazz music, tennis and was an excellent golfer winning awards and trophies for his low gross games. Jack returned home to Dallas in 1980 to care for his mother Estelle in her final years. Jack quietly donated to many charities. No service will be held per his request.
