J'Lynn Congdon (nee Alling), 55, passed away July 28, 2020 at home after a nine-month battle with lymphoma. Born January 13, 1965 in Wiesbaden, Germany, she spent the majority of her life in North Texas. She grew up at Possum Kingdom lake and attended school in Graford, Texas, graduating in 1983. She attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education in 1987. She started her teaching career in Bryan, Texas and then moved to the DFW Metroplex to teach in the Birdville Independent School District as a librarian for fifteen years. While at Birdville, she earned a master's degree in Library Science from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. After her teaching career, J'Lynn worked for Follett as a library software trainer and as a shelving project manager that allowed her to travel throughout the United States. In 2004, she met her future husband while singing in the choir at Cross City (formerly First Baptist) church in Euless, Texas. J'Lynn and Ardsley (Ardy) Congdon, Jr. were married in November, 2005.
Faith played an important role in her life. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and she lived her life fully devoted to serving God. She travelled across the United States and internationally with Celebrant Singers. She made numerous mission trips throughout the years. Prayer and worship were important to her. As residents of Highland Village, Texas since 2007, she and her husband started attending RockPointe Church in Flower Mound in 2009. She became involved in various ministries including teaching toddlers, ministry assistant to the senior pastor, leading the care ministry, handling prayer requests for the congregation, and served in the women's ministry. She used her gift of organization for various church events including the National Day of Prayer. Always humble, she wanted to remain in the background and not draw attention to herself.
J'Lynn is survived by her husband, Ardsley (Ardy) Congdon Jr. of Highland Village, TX, stepson Ardsley (Lee) Congdon III of Omaha, NE, parents Jim and Janis Alling of Decatur, TX, mother-in-law Pamela Congdon of Colorado Springs, CO, brother Jefferson (Natalie) Alling of Runaway Bay, TX, sister-in-law Anjanette Taylor (Steve Cox) of Colorado Springs, CO, nephews and nieces Nathan, Jonathan, Hannah, and Sarah Alling, aunt Linda Finley, cousins Melinda (Kelly) Kunkel, Lori (Alan) Johnston, Marsha (Kevin) Hamilton and their children.
