Ivan Earl Keefer,76, died December 24, 2020 in Swedish Hospital, Seattle, Washington. Ivan was born August 20, 1944 in Warsaw, Indiana and was the son of Emmett and Frances (Brown) Keefer.
Ivan entered the United States Army in 1967 and was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade and served two tours in Vietnam. His second tour in Vietnam he was attached to the 5th Special Forces. He earned his college degree from Purdue University in 1972 after his discharge from the Army. He worked in the insurance industry for many years, retiring from Allstate Life Insurance Company in 2009. After retirement Ivan and his wife moved to Silver Creek, Washington. Ivan's passion was gardening, woodworking and genealogy. Ivan and his wife, Brenda traveled across the US many times researching both their family histories including a trip to England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Ivan is survived by his of 34 years, Brenda (McDougall) Keefer, daughters Tamara Keefer, Ft. Wayne; Sabrina (Tom) Gornall, Amelia, OH; son Eric (Allison) Keefer, Indianapolis; step son John M. Simpson and Daniel Simpson, Augusta, GA; brothers Terry (Alice)Keefer, Winona Lake; Lloyd Keefer, Fort Smith, AR; sister Lola DiGerlando, Orland Park, IL.
Visitation will be held at Hendryx Mortuary in New Palestine, Indiana on June 23rd from 4-7 pm. Services will be held the following day, June 24th at 2:00 pm at the National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana
