Isabel "Chavelo" Perez, 81 of Ganado left this earth to go to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 27, 2022. He was born on Tuesday, February 25, 1941 in Lolita, Texas to Jesus and Maria Perez and was one of thirteen children. He married the love of his life, Ninfa Ramirez on May 30th, 1970, and they began their life in Ganado raising their four children and were married for fifty-two years. He was a hard worker his entire life, starting out by working on his family's ranch as a child, and farming for other families in his teenage years. He then worked various jobs in the oilfield in different positions until the age of 59. He then became employed by Edna ISD where he worked for twenty-two years in the maintenance department and finally retired at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife Ninfa, Calixtro(Sharri) Vega, daughter Veronica (Steven) Spalek, daughter Cindy (Juan) Arevalo, and son Edward (Jennifer) Perez, grandchildren, Janessa Gaona, Jaylah (Jorje) Galvan, Allison Vasquez, Reymond Arevalo, Adrian Arevalo, Araceli Arevalo, Bailey Perez, Caleb Perez and Julliana Arevalo, also his great-grandchildren, Jaylonnie Galvan, Nathan Nunez, and Jovanni Galvan. He is also survived by his siblings, Tana Ortiz, Andrea Trevino, Mary Zarate, Tirso (Marie) Perez, George Ramirez, Fred (Bea) Perez and Jessie (Emma) Perez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Juan Perez, Antonio Perez, Jim Perez, Felix Perez, sister, Julia Tristan and grandson Jullian Arevalo. He was well loved by his family and friends, and his spirit will continue to live through all of the lessons and values that he taught his family. It has been our great pleasure to call him husband, dad, grandpa, popo, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.
There was a visitation on Wednesday, August 31st from 5:pm to 7:pm at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Assumption Catholic Church with Rosary at 9:30 am and Mass at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, 800 S. Third St. Ganado, TX 77962, 361-771-2120.
