September 23, 1927 - June 23, 2022 Irwin Zucker, passed away peacefully in his sleep just shy of his 95th birthday. His motto was "It doesn't cost anything to be nice". He was the nicest person we ever met! Irwin was born in Brooklyn, New York and was one of six children, and a twin to Seymour (Sy) Zucker. Irwin attended Boys High School and was elected president his senior year. He successfully organized annual class reunions for 71 consecutive years!At 17 years old Irwin earned a scholarship to New York University and had to take a break as he was drafted to the military. He finished his college studies at The University of Michigan graduating with a degree in Journalism. Irwin started as an office boy at Dumont TV Station and worked himself up into the Public Relations Department of a major record company, Decca Records. In the 1950's Irwin became the premier record promoter and helped establish Double Shot Records with top hit makers Brenton Wood, "Oggum Boogum and Gimme Some Kind of Sign" and Count Five- "Psychotic Reaction".Irwin was so successful as a record promoter he branched out as a book promoter and started his own firm Irwin Zucker Promotion in Motion. Irwin started The Book Publicist Club of Southern California.He met his wife, Devra Hill, whom he married on September 1, 1957. His greatest joy was being a father to his three daughters, Lori, Judi and Shari. He loved being a grandfather to his 5 grandchildren Max, Miles, Mattea, Taryn and Tanner. He was close to his son in laws Daniel (Shari) and Chris (Judi). Irwin was always positive and loved being around people! He lived each day to its fullest. He was a true Mench!
