Irwin Joseph Trestman, M.D., a devoted husband and father, and an esteemed physician, passed away on November 4, 2024, at the age of 76. Born in 1948, he dedicated his life to the service of others, both as a compassionate doctor and a loving family man. Irwin was married to his beloved wife, Amy, for 45 years, and together they raised three wonderful sons, Dr. Michael (Angela) Trestman, Dr. Eric (Piper) Trestman, and Dr. Ian (Lindsay) Trestman, all of whom were his greatest source of pride and joy. He is also survived by his three adored grandchildren Carter, Mills, and Maia, his devoted sisters Janice (Joseph) Nodvin and Freida Mae Gottsegen, and a large and loving clan of relatives and dear friends.
As an Infectious Disease doctor, Irwin was admired for his skill and commitment, the depth of care he gave his patients, and the kindness he showed his colleagues. At home, he loved to garden, and to share the fruits with anyone who would take them. He loved his dogs, and his parrot, Quitzl. He loved fishing, and spent countless happy hours with his sons, family and friends exploring the bayous and marshes of the Gulf Coast and Savannah.
Irwin's legacy endures through the love of his family and friends, the many patients he healed, and the lives he touched with his kindly presence. A truly gentle soul with a playful wit that brightened every situation, he will be dearly missed, and remembered with love and gratitude.
A Celebration of Irwin's Life will take place in Savannah at a future date. The family asks that donations in Irwin's memory be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Arrangements in Atlanta by Dressler's Funeral Care, 770-451-4999.
