Irving Slitzky, 88 years old, passed away in Springfield, MA on February 8, 2021. Irving was born in Bronx, NY and lived in Elmont, NY where he and his beloved wife, Marilyn, of 67 years, raised two sons. Irving owned several Kosher butcher stores until he moved to Chatsworth, CA to be near his sister, brother and their families. He and Marilyn lived in CA until their most precious three grandchildren were born which compelled them to move to Longmeadow, MA. They actively participated in every aspect of their grandchildren's lives. Irving was a lifelong member and Assistant Scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America where he helped organize and supervise National Jamborees. He was also a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed speaking with people from all over the world. He is survived by many loving family members and friends, especially his friends at Reeds Landing where some considered him the "Unofficial Mayor". Irving will be greatly missed by his wife, Marilyn. Also survived by his sons, Barry and wife, Margaret, of Longmeadow, MA, Kenneth and wife, Jeannie, of Chatsworth, CA, and grandchildren, David, Matthew and wife Hannah Corwin, and Hannah. A private graveside service will be held on February 11th. The Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home is assisting the family. Zoom Shiva information will be available at ascherzimmerman.com.
