Irma Juanita Henson Pelt, 95, passed away on January 17, 2022 of pneumonia at Wellstar Tranquility hospice.
Irma Juanita (Nita) was born in Griffin, GA on June 22, 1926. She married on May 16, 1942 before her husband, Jerome, entered into World War II. After the war, Jerome was employed by Ft. Gordon and Augusta became home. She lived here until September 2013, when she moved to Marietta, GA.
The Pelt family joined Lakemont Presbyterian Church in 1949, where Nita was an active member of Keenagers, the weekly Food Pantry, the John Tabb Sunday School class, and many other areas.
In 1969, Jerome opened Circle P stables where Nita helped him manage and maintain up to 76 horses. Most of her free time was spent there until 1985 when the property was acquired to build River Watch Parkway and Costco.
Nita was an avid reader. However, her pleasure reading came second to her Bible reading. After her move to Marietta, she was active in Bible Study Fellowship and attended Northbrook United Methodist Church in Roswell, GA.
Nita is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Ranson Jerome Pelt, her son Ranson Jerome Pelt, Jr. (Randy) and her granddaughter Ashley Rebecca Terzia. Her survivors include her daughters Ranscine Rubiera, Deborah Terzia, Les? Cooper (Mike) and daughter-in-law, Cherry Pelt. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a plethora of extended family and friends.
Services for Nita will take place when Lakemont Presbyterian Church's new building is complete. Please stay informed by visiting her Caring Bridge Website at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/irmajuanitapelt
